Skydive Hawaii Review
There’s nothing quite like skydiving. The adrenaline rush you’ll get is like no other and you can really feel a sense of accomplishment
once you’re done. If you’re traveling to Hawaii and you’re thinking of giving skydiving a try, check out Skydive Hawaii. It is the largest skydiving facility in all of Hawaii, making it the ideal choice for beginners and experienced skydivers alike.
It’s quite a ways from Waikiki so I suggest hiring a nice Honolulu limousine service to take you there. The scenic views are incredible, so being chauffeured there will allow you to enjoy it and get your mind right before your jump!
Your First Jump
Many of Skydive Hawaii’s clients never tried skydiving before. But Skydive Hawaii’s team is comprised of professional and licensed USPA instructors and they know exactly how to make your first jump memorable, safe and a whole lot of fun. If you’re a first timer, their tandem skydive is for you.
You will dive from an altitude of 12,000 to 20,000 feet at a speed of 120 miles per hour. As mentioned, you’ll be in tandem with an experienced skydiving contractor with many years of experience teaching newbies like yourself. You’ll ride a Cessna Caravan plane which has an extra wide door, providing you with an easier jump exit.
And as you fly from above the clouds, your parachute will open and you’ll get a breath-taking view of Oahu and even the neighboring islands if you dive on a clear day. On some days, you can even see the whales swimming in the ocean.
The 12,000 guaranteed tandem jump costs $150, while a higher altitude of 14,000 costs $200. If you are yearning for a more extreme skydive, try the 20,000 feet tandem. The package, which costs $998 per person, already includes a photo/DVD option and each flight is limited only to two tandems at a time.
Before You Go
Prior to your skydiving schedule, you need to prepare accordingly. First of all, make sure you wear appropriate clothing. Skydiving altitudes often have near-freezing temperatures so cover up by wearing pants and a long-sleeve shirt. You should also wear shoes to avoid injury when you land. You won’t be allowed to bring your own camera during your dive – this is for your own safety. You can avail of their photo and/or video services for an extra fee.
The main skydiving activity will only take 20 minutes from start to finish. But the skydiving process will normally take 2 hours on a non-busy day and on peak season, it could take half a day. Moreover. the weather, aircraft status, and other factors may cause delays.
Skydiving with professionals means every safety precaution has been addressed to keep the risks as minimal as possible. If this is your first time to try skydiving in Hawaii, your best bet is to go with a reputable company like Skydive Hawaii to ensure your safety.
Tandem jumping means your professional skydiving instructor will be the one to control the jump, so no prior preparation and knowledge is needed on your part. As long as you’re in good health and at least 18 years old, you should be able to try this activity.
If you’re ready to make a reservation with Skydive Hawaii, you can give them a call at (808) 637-9700. Their facility is located on 68-760 Farrington Hwy, Waialua HI 96791.
